Lyrics
[Intro]
Latchkey kids, we ran the block
The street light was our clock
[Verse 1]
Corner store runs, with a dollar in hand
Candy and comics, our own promised land
Boombox on shoulder, we'd strut through the town
Def Leppard or Run-DMC, turnin' up the sound
Fights in the lot, we settled our scores
Ditched school for the arcade, racked up high scores
[Chorus]
Latchkey legends, we made it through
Runnin' the streets, yeah, we knew what to do
From the hose to the darts, we played it raw
Gen X kids, we broke every law
[Verse 2]
Skateboard ridin' on the cracked concrete
Boombox blastin' that old-school beat
No cell phones, just a shout to the crew
No rules, no fears, we always broke through
From Atari to alleys, we carved our own way
Spray paint on walls, our dreams on display
[Chorus]
Latchkey legends, we made it through
Runnin' the streets, yeah, we knew what to do
From the hose to the darts, we played it raw
Gen X kids, we broke every law
[Outro]
Gen X, we survived the day
80's kids, we paved the way
Gen X, we survived the day
80's kids, we paved the way
Gen X, we survived the day
80's kids, we paved the way
[Fade Out]
Gen X kids, we broke every law
Gen X kids, we broke every law
